I am the owner & therapist of Innerwork Counseling. A little bit about me— I love being a therapist. It is my passion, purpose, and calling to sit aside others in their most vulnerable moments and offer support, acceptance, and understanding. I am a faith-based therapist with training in attachment and trauma, mindfulness, and neuroscience.
I provide a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive approach when working with every person. I love trauma and helping people to see that the way we show up in the world is not because “that’s just how I am” but it is typically a response to the collective experiences throughout our life span that have shaped our perceptions, attitudes, and personality.
I am trained in Brainspotting, which is a modality that helps clients process their trauma in a safe, gentle, and effective way by locating points in their visual field that connect to brainspots where unprocessed trauma is stored. Brainspotting helps to reprocess negative emotions by focusing on your body-based sensations rather than just your thoughts.
I am also trained in Imago Relationship Therapy, which can be utilized with couples, parent-child relationships, and any other relationship in need of transforming the way conflict is being handled. In Imago therapy, there are three important skills for every dialogue that couples must develop: mirroring, validation, and empathy. These three skills are the foundation of listening and understanding one another.
When I’m not being a therapist, I’m enjoying life as a wife and mom of amazing children. I love to travel, practice yoga and meditation, and go for long walks and bike rides.
